monday night my fellow model Ru's boyfriend, alan, was in town from hong kong. he kindly took a couple of us to dinner. we went to Pan Xi, it has been open for one hundred years and is in the top ten restaurants in china, serving traditional chinese cuisine. we were escorted to one of the executive private dining rooms reserved for officials. felt kind of special and the whole experience was kind of amazing.

on sunday a few of us went to chimelong paradise amusement park, the "biggest" park in china (has nothing on wonderland) being practically the only white people in addition to the fact we were all models it really opened my eyes to how life really should be.. the amount of people stopping us to take photo's or following us with camera's was unbelievable.. a vision into my future, maybe? ;)

ok, so the first week is done, i haven't written anything in a few days so i'll wrap up my first week now. starting with some observations about china, its people and my general surroundings.

guangzhou is a lot like tasmania: years behind the rest of the country, dry, old and just plain fucking boring. excitement is few and far between, but, in saying that after speaking to few people (they know who they are) i need to remain positive.

the people here are very.. open. they take no hesitation in doing everything and anything outdoors. peeing perhaps, dye jobs, haircuts, lice treatment and yes, even.. dental work. i'm guessing it creates some sense of.. community?

anywho, in some exciting news, i finally found myself a camera. you can now call me the 'bargain hunter' i've taken some notes from rick ross and hustled my way through the electronic market. so, look forward to some photographic additions to my posts. i've also gotten off my lazy ass and joined the gym downstairs.. i'm coming back a buff cunt (no). this is the view from bound, a restaurant that sponsors models for free meals (hey, let's be honest, if they didn't force food on them.. would they eat?)

i can't wait for hong kong xx

let me start this post with a tutorial,

four ways to spot models in a nightclub:

- they move in "packs"
- this mound of models is always in the centre of the club, therefore the remainder of patrons look in towards them.. much like a zoo
- there is one single puff of smoke hovering above them
- they are at least one foot taller than the average patron

i think australia needs to learn a lesson from asia, and the rest of the world, this lesson being: models = free stuff.
there are three clubs in guangzhou that offer this remarkable service, bound, duo and velvet. all three clubs offer free entry, at bound models are offered a free meal of their choice on the roof between nine and nine thirty (we attempted to go, but were a little too late) and afterwards are given free drink cards to enjoy at the bar downstairs. duo also offers free drink cards, only two, but never fear, once these run out the head of pr is always happy to offer you more (besides i'm pretty sure he likes moii). i know what you're thinking, it couldn't get better.. well.. at duo if the girls stay for three hours they get payed 300 rmb, this is the same for guys at the gay bar, an easy way to nearly double your weekly allowance.. this is how i will feed my shopping addiction.

all in all a fun night, met some cool people and my australian tally is now sitting on: three.

walking into an underwear casting surrounded by ten beautiful, buff and ripped brazilian men would ruin anyones confidence. i'm joining the gym tomorrow.

this blog will get a hell of a lot more interesting as soon as i secure myself a camera.
two days, three castings in and i'm still feeling dishevelled.

i'm living in an apartment around the corner from beijing rd (shopping area), two doors down from my agency and i get driven to and from castings. living a pretty easy life. i am currently living with two guys samir, from holland and matt, from hungry. we have another housemate arriving on friday from belgium.

last night one of the boys, samir, took me through the market across the street. think paddy's or south melbourne market, but, replace fresh fruit, vegetables and clothing with: gutted fish (hearts still beating), frogs, chicken, turtles, tortoises, toads and even scorpions.

i miss everyone back home (especially a certain few) and hope you are all well xx
